Winter Storm 2009

This is what it looked like OUTSIDE

Our front yard

outside our backdoor
front porch

And THIS is what it looked like INSIDE
We spent the first couple days of the storm with Nona and Pa in front of their toasty warm fireplace. We then retreated to Mama and Papa's in Souther Illinois where electricity was in full force. It was an adventure and not a winter we'll soon forget. We were so lucky to have wonderful family in all regions to make us comfy and warm.
Cousins Meg, Ty, Abby and Max all cuddled up
watching a movie (via generator) at Gail and Johnny's house

I keep thinking this picture looks so pitiful...like Max was so cold he had to go to bed wearing his gloves. The truth is, Max had just recently become obsessed with mittens (sometimes using socks on his hands) and he insisted on wearing mittens everywhere...even to bed. He was actually asleep in front of the fireplace and it was so warm, he cheeks were red.

(see...socks on the hands as makeshift mittens)

Max managed to get an hour of movie watching from his battery-powered dvd player.

I love the glove pictures!

I can't believe how big he is getting, and the fact he's going to have another birthday soon. :( Give him a hug and kiss for me, okay?
